Good NeigHbor Reminders

Please review the following reminders about actions we can all take to help protect the value of our investment and quality of life in our neighborhood. These reminders are based on the Aspen Ridge CC&Rs, the City of McCall Code of Ordinances, and compliance with Laws.  Please make this information available to everyone who you host on your property including family, friends, visitors, renters, and contractors.

Living In A Safe, Clean Neighborhood...

  • The speed limit in our neighborhood is 20 mph (15 mph in Aspen Ridge III) for all vehicles including Utility Vehicles, ATVs, and E-bikes. Please drive carefully to protect neighbors, kids, pets, and wildlife.
  • Dog owners should take all measures to keep dogs leashed when walking in public areas, and clean up after their pets.
  • The bears have a knack for finding unlatched or overfull garbage cans. Avoid having to clean up scattered trash by latching cans securely, and storing cans in a protected area.
  • Seasonal trailers, vehicles, and construction-related equipment should be stored inside or off-site when not actively being used.
  • During snow season, use extra caution at intersections and driveways. Do not park any vehicle or trailer on our neighborhood streets from 3:00am to 12:00pm to avoid blocking snow removal equipment that is working to keep our streets as clear as possible.

Watching The Stars...

  • To help protect everyone’s ability to view the night sky, the City of McCall has an outdoor lighting ordinance (also know as ‘dark sky’).
  • Be aware that your exterior light fixtures may be shining in other owner’s windows, as well as interrupting wildlife nocturnal cycles.
  • To reduce light pollution and trespass, please turn off your exterior lights after 10pm or earlier. Consider using motion-activated lights instead of dusk-to-dawn lights.
  • When adding or updating exterior lighting, install full-cutoff light fixtures that eliminate glare and upward light.

Taking The Dog For A Walk...

  • To help protect people, wildlife, and other dogs, McCall has ordinances for keeping dogs on-leash and controlling dogs-at-large. Even the most well-behaved dog can act unexpectedly when encountering unfamiliar wildlife, strangers, or other dogs.
  • Dog owners should take all measures to keep dogs leashed and under control in public areas to avoid chases or dangerous interactions with animals or people.
  • Dog poop happens. Dog owners, please clean up after your pet, and please do not leave the bag for someone else to pick up.

Enjoying The Peace & Quiet...

  • Voices carry and echo in the mountains. Please observe the general rule of quiet time after 10pm and move conversations and music inside.
  • Barking carries and echoes too. Dog owners should not leave dogs unattended outside or otherwise barking, which disturbs both neighbors and wildlife.
  • Fences are not acceptable in the Master HOA design guidelines, except as retaining walls. No owners should have lot line fences or outdoor structures to leave dogs unattended and barking outside.
  • Construction and equipment operation should be limited to the City of McCall's Ordinance: 7:30am to 10:00pm Monday- Saturday, 9:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday.

Breathing The Fresh Air...

  • Smoke from any exterior fire drifts, either with the wind, or down slope in the evening. Especially when a fire is left smoldering.
  • To reduce fire danger and smoke trespass, fully extinguish all fires when you are done enjoying them, making sure they are cold and wet to the touch.
  • Please do not allow any exterior fires when wildfire restrictions are in place.

Living In A Friendly Neighborhood...

  • Get to know your neighbors. We all have at least one thing in common, an investment in the Aspen Ridge neighborhood.
  • If you need to discuss a nuisance or disturbance with your neighbors, please do so with care and kindness.

Preparing For Wildfire

  • Help protect our community by preparing your home and property for wildfire. Participate in the HOA's Spring and Fall Firewise clean up events to create and maintain defensible space.
  • Dead trees and ground fuels are more than an eyesore. Remove hazard trees, woody debris, and noxious weeds from your property to reduce wildfire risk and avoid liability for damage to neighboring homes or property.
